A score, and the sentences behind it
“Was this written by ChatGPT?” rarely has a yes or no answer. The report shows how likely it is, sentence by sentence.
One AI score for the text
A single score for how much of the text reads as written by a large language model. It is a probability, not a finding.
A likelihood for each sentence
Every sentence gets its own likelihood, so you can see which lines raise the score and which read as a person’s writing.
A plagiarism check, if you want it
Tick the plagiarism option to see where the text matches other sources. The report links each matching source.
How to check text for ChatGPT in 4 steps
Paste the text
At least 50 words. Without an account you can check up to 1,000 words at a time.
Run the check
The overall AI score comes first. The sentence view sits under it.
Look at the sentences
See where the flags sit. A single flagged line says little. Several in a row are worth a second read.
Weigh it with what else you know
Drafts, version history and a conversation tell you more than a score. Use the check as one input.
What the checker looks for
People say “ChatGPT” for any AI writing. Here is what the check does and does not tell you.
It looks for AI writing, not one brand
The check looks for text likely written by large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Llama.
It scores how the text reads
The result comes from the wording itself. Nothing in a pasted text records which tool, if any, produced it.
It does not name the tool
A high score means the text reads as AI-written. It does not mean “this came from ChatGPT”, and the report will not say so.
This is the same check as the AI detector. If the text is an essay, the AI detector for essays explains what a score can settle for students and teachers.
What a ChatGPT checker can’t tell you
Read this before you act on a score.
A score is not proof
Any detector can flag writing a person wrote, and can miss AI text that was edited afterwards. Treat the score as a likelihood.
It should not decide a case alone
An AI score should never be the only basis for an academic integrity decision. Look at drafts and talk to the writer first.
It does not rewrite or “humanize”
The check shows which sentences read as AI-written. It does not change the text or help lower a score.
