What you get

A report you can act on

A percentage tells you little about an article. The report shows which passages match, where they come from and which sentences read as AI-written.

Every matching source, linked

The plagiarism report links each matching source next to your text. You can open it, then attribute the passage or rewrite it.

An AI score and a sentence view

The AI check gives one overall score and a likelihood for every sentence, so you can see which passages the score comes from.

Both checks in one report

Run the plagiarism check and the AI check together. You read one report instead of pasting the article into two tools.

How it works

How to check an article before you publish in 4 steps

  1. Paste the article

At least 30 words for plagiarism and 50 for the AI check. Without an account you can check up to 1,000 words at a time.

  2. Run the check

Plagiarism is selected. Tick the AI option to run both in one report.

  3. Open each match

Follow the link to the source. Decide whether it is a quotation with a source, a common phrase or a copied passage.

  4. Fix it or ask about it

In your own draft, attribute or rewrite. In a submission, send the writer the passages and ask before you publish or pay.

Who uses it

For the person writing the article and the person publishing it

In-house content teams

Make the check a step before publishing, so copied wording is found in the draft and not on the live page.

Freelance writers

Check your article before you send it. If a client asks about originality, you have already read every match.

Editors and agencies

Check submissions before you accept them. The sentence view shows what to ask the writer about.

Site owners

Check a guest post before it goes on your site. You are the one publishing it.

Reviewing a submission? An AI score is a probability, not proof. Any detector can flag writing a person wrote, so it should never be the only basis for rejecting or accusing a writer. Read how AI detectors work and how to interpret a plagiarism report.

Where it works

Check where you write

Paste text on this page, or run the check from the tools you already use.

In Google Docs

The Google Docs add-on checks a document for plagiarism, AI writing and grammar inside Google Docs.

In your browser

The Chrome extension adds a Check button to web text boxes with 50 or more words. It also checks text you highlight on any page.

In your publishing workflow

There is a REST API for plagiarism and AI detection. API access is on paid plans.

Get the Google Docs add-on or the Chrome extension. Developers: see the API. For longer documents and folders, see pricing.

Know the limits

What this check does not do

We would rather you know this before you rely on a report.

It does not rewrite or “humanize”

The report shows you what matches and what reads as AI-written. It does not change your text or help disguise it.

It does not judge attribution

A match can be a quotation with a source or a copied passage. The report shows the match. You decide which it is.

Other tools give other numbers

Each checker compares against its own sources and each AI detector uses its own model. Two tools can score the same article differently.

It does not crawl or monitor

It checks the text you give it. It does not crawl your whole website or watch the web for copies of your pages.

If another site has copied your published work, a checker cannot remove it. Our DMCA page shows what a takedown notice contains.
