More than one percentage
A single score tells you very little about an essay. The report shows where in the essay the score comes from.
An overall AI score
One percentage for the whole essay: how much of it reads as AI-written. It is a likelihood, not a finding.
A likelihood for every sentence
Each sentence is scored on its own, so you can see which paragraphs drive the result instead of guessing from one number.
Plagiarism in the same report
Add the plagiarism check to see where the essay matches other sources, with each source linked next to your text.
How to check an essay for AI in 4 steps
Paste the essay
At least 50 words. Without an account you can check up to 1,000 words, which covers most short essays and personal statements.
Run the check
You get the overall score first, then the sentence-by-sentence view.
Read the flagged sentences
Look at where the flags cluster. One flagged sentence in a page means little. A whole section is worth rereading.
Decide what it means
If it is your essay, revise or keep your drafts ready. If it is a student’s, treat the score as a reason to talk, not as proof.
For the person writing the essay and the person reading it
Students
See how your essay reads before you submit it. If a detector flags work you wrote yourself, your drafts and version history are your evidence.
Teachers
Check one essay or a class set. The sentence view shows what to ask about, and folders keep each class together on paid plans.
Applicants
Personal statements and application essays under 1,000 words fit in one free check.

What an AI essay detector can’t tell you
We would rather you know this before you rely on a score.
It cannot prove who wrote an essay
An AI score is a probability. Any detector can flag writing a person wrote, and can miss AI text that was edited afterwards.
It will not match your school’s tool
Each detector uses its own model, so two tools can give different scores for the same essay.
It does not rewrite or “humanize”
The check shows you what reads as AI-written. It does not change your text or help disguise it.
