What Happens to the Text I Check?

Short answer

Your text is sent to Plagiarism Checker Plus only when you start a check. It’s processed to produce your results. If you’re signed in, the check is saved to your history, where you can delete it. Guest checks aren’t linked to an account. We don’t sell your text, use it for advertising, show it to other users or use it to train AI models.

When your text is sent

Website: when you click the check button.
Chrome™ extension: only when you click a Check button, use the right-click menu or press the keyboard shortcut. Before that, it reads text on your device only to count words, and it never reads password fields.
Google Docs™ add-on: only when you click Check. It reads the open document to count words and find quotes or a reference list you choose to exclude. Excluded text is never sent.

Text is sent over HTTPS to app.plagiarismcheckerplus.com and to the plagiarism and AI-detection providers that process checks for us, only to produce your results.

Where your results are kept

Signed in: the check and its results are saved to your account history so you can reopen the report. You can delete them at any time.
Guest: the check isn’t linked to an account.
In the Chrome extension: your browser keeps a list of your last 20 checks (with a short text preview and the page address), plus your settings and sign-in token, in Chrome’s local extension storage. Removing the extension deletes this data.
In the Google Docs add-on: your sign-in token and a summary of your last check for each document are stored in your own Apps Script user properties, which only you can access.

What we never do

Sell your text or use it for advertising.
Use your text to train AI models.
Show your text to other users.
Let people read it, except where needed for security, to comply with the law, or with your permission — for example, when you ask for support.

What the extension and add-on can access

The Chrome extension doesn’t record your browsing history, your keystrokes or activity on pages you don’t check, and it doesn’t load remote code. When you use Cite, it reads the page’s title, address, author, date and similar details; a citation is saved to your account only when you click Save.

The Google Docs add-on can access only the document it’s opened in. It can’t see your other documents, Google Drive, Gmail or Google profile. It changes your document only when you ask — to highlight matches or insert a citation.

Signing out and deleting data

Remove your data

Delete individual checks from your history on the website while signed in.
Sign out of the extension or add-on to remove its sign-in token from your browser or Google account.
Revoke the add-on’s Google access at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and remove the extension from chrome://extensions.
