Hide the Check Button or Check Bar on a Site

To hide the extension’s buttons on one site, hover over the Check button (or the check bar) and click the small × — both disappear on that site. To turn them off everywhere, open the side panel’s account menu and untick Check button in text boxes or Check buttons on selected text. Right-click and Alt+Shift+P keep working either way.
The Plagiarism Checker Plus extension for Chrome™ adds two optional helpers to web pages: the Check button on text boxes with 50+ words, and the Check plagiarism / Check AI bar that appears when you highlight 50+ words. If they get in the way on a site, hide them.
Hide the buttons on one site
- Move your pointer over the Check button on a text box — a small × appears beside it. On the highlighted-text bar, the × is at the end of the bar.
- Click the ×. The extension stops showing its buttons on that site.
Hiding works per site (per hostname), and it covers both the text-box button and the highlighted-text bar on that site.
Turn the buttons off everywhere
- Click the extension’s toolbar icon to open the side panel.
- Open the account menu at the top right (your initials, or ⋯ if you’re not signed in).
- Untick Check button in text boxes to remove the button from text boxes, and/or Check buttons on selected text to stop the bar appearing when you highlight or copy text.
Bring hidden buttons back
Open the account menu and choose Show buttons on N hidden sites. This un-hides every site you’ve hidden (there’s no per-site list to edit yet). To turn a helper back on everywhere, tick its box again in the same menu.
You can still check on hidden sites
- Select text, right-click, and choose Check “…” for AI & plagiarism.
- Right-click a text box and choose Check this text box for AI & plagiarism.
- Select text and press Alt+Shift+P.
- Or open the side panel and paste the text into Check.
Where the buttons never appear
The in-page buttons only run on regular web pages (http and https). They don’t appear on Chrome’s own pages, on Google Docs™ (use the Google Docs add-on there) or on the Plagiarism Checker Plus web app itself. If they’re missing somewhere you expect them, see troubleshooting.
