Check Any Text Box or Highlighted Text for Plagiarism and AI

With the Plagiarism Checker Plus extension for Chrome™, click the Check button that appears on any text box with 50 or more words, or highlight 50+ words on a page and choose Check plagiarism or Check AI from the small bar that appears. You can also right-click selected text, or select it and press Alt+Shift+P. Results open in the side panel.
1. The Check button on text boxes
When you write in a multi-line text box or a rich editor (a web email composer, a forum post, a learning-platform submission box) and it reaches 50 words, a small Check · N words button appears on it. Click it and the side panel opens with your text, ready to check. Pressing the button doesn’t take focus out of your text box, so you can keep typing.
2. The bar next to highlighted text
Highlight 50 or more words anywhere on a web page — drag with the mouse, double- or triple-click, use Shift + arrow keys, or copy the text — and a small bar appears next to the selection with Check plagiarism and Check AI. Click one and the side panel opens and starts that check straight away. The bar hides itself after a few seconds (it stays while your pointer is over it), and Esc hides it immediately.
3. The right-click menu
- Select text, right-click and choose Check “…” for AI & plagiarism.
- Right-click inside a text box and choose Check this text box for AI & plagiarism to send everything in it.
4. The keyboard shortcut
Select text and press Alt+Shift+P. To change the shortcut, open the account menu in the side panel and click Keyboard shortcut, which takes you to Chrome’s shortcuts page.
Check text from any web page
- Highlight at least 50 words on the page, or type them into a text box.
- Click Check plagiarism or Check AI in the bar, click the Check button on the text box, right-click and choose the Check option, or press Alt+Shift+P.
- In the side panel, review the text and the checks selected (AI detection, Plagiarism or both), then click Check text if it hasn’t started already.
- Read the results: the plagiarism and AI scores, the matching sources, and the flagged sentences. Open full report shows everything on the website.
Good to know
- 50 words minimum. Below that, the buttons don’t appear and the side panel asks for more text. See Word limits.
- Nothing is sent until you ask. The extension reads text on your device only to count words; it sends text only when you start a check. Password fields are never read.
- You can close the panel. Long plagiarism checks keep running, and Chrome notifies you when they finish. Results also appear under History.
- Not in Google Docs™. The in-page buttons don’t run on docs.google.com. Use the Google Docs add-on.
- Too many buttons? Hide them on a site with the × or turn them off in settings — see Hide the check button or check bar.
